Stair Steppers to Greatness By Matthew Horne
One of the most important, and overlooked processes in goal setting is simply taking inventory. One of my mentor’s tells me constantly, “This thing is a process… You want to go from A to Speak!” Although I encourage everyone to establish dreams and corresponding goals which far surpass their current standing, there is an element of reality when it comes to setting goals.
When you make a conscious decision to pursue your dreams, you’ve already done what the majority of society won’t. To continue defeating the odds you must maximize this new season of your life by taking inventory of where you are realistically, and where you envision yourself being when your dreams are actualized.
Goals are nothing more than stair-steppers to greatness, greatness being the dream that resides in you. My reasoning for saying this is that your dream is the seed of your greatness. It’s your every reason for existence. That’s why they seemingly appear out of nowhere, and increases in volume the more you drown out its voice with security.
Effective goal setting is what enables you to maximize the various seasons of life. Pursuing your dream automatically places you in a new season in life. Setting goals which gradually take you from where you are realistically to your desired end will ensure a route of precision on the road to your dreams.
People often become discouraged when they set unrealistic goals, or set a goal which is not a derivative of some sort of vision. We are hard wired as human beings to stay the course towards a vision which has consumed us. So, if a goal is not towards a desired end of ours, it will inevitably perish because vision is the motivating factor which eradicates the issues of life which choke out dreams. Vision enables you to not look to the right or to the left en route to the actualization of your dreams.
We are ever-evolving beings, meaning that we’ll never completely arrive until our last breath is taken. There will always be a desire to surpass our current condition regardless of what we have, or have not accomplished in life. If this is not so, then why are you still breathing? Every breath you take is your Creator saying your assignment is in no way complete. So every, what our feeble human minds perceive to be coincidental thought or idea which never seems to relinquish, is meant to be pursued.
The key to the actualization of the God inspired idea is to battle your fallibilities which have plagued your success in the past. Setting realistic goals which are stair steppers to your dream will ensure that you maintain the necessary focus it takes to fulfill your dream.
Setting goals is a rare feat in itself considering this is a life activity in which a minimal portion of society participates. But goal setting can take you further than you’ve ever imagined if it’s done on purpose, and with precision. Setting goals in the direction of your dreams will save you from the accompanying disappointment associated with aimless goal setting. Successful people do nothing more than live life with precision. Precision and success await you if you continuously have a vision for your life, and set goals which are in accordance with this vision.
Lastly, goal setting actively engages your subconscious mind. Ultimately, every decision we make originates in the realm of our subconscious mind. So it’s key to keep its voice formulated in such a way that our dreams are possible. If you are constantly taking small progressions (i.e. goals) in the direction of your dreams, then your subconscious mind will hold fast to the fact that your dream is possible until it manifests.
Goals, when set correctly, are nothing more than precedents which are necessary for you to believe that your dream is possible. And precedents, without question, are stair steppers to greatness!
